Hacia el año 1708, la ciudad de Nuestra Señora de La Paz crecía vertiginosamente, estableciéndose diversos gremios, uno de ellos fue el de los herreros, que se ubicaba en la calle de “Las Herrerías” (actual Socabaya). Ese gremio contaba con un destacable herrero llamado Diego Aquino, quien en su faena, una noche vivió una experiencia espeluznante, cuando fue visitado por un misterioso caballero y su mula.
